The 4th Annual Cumberland County Veterans’ Parade will be held Saturday, November 2nd, at 10 a.m., rain or shine. The popular parade will honor veterans of the United States Armed Forces in Cumberland County who have served honorably and sacrificed in defense of our nation. Veterans represent about 12% of the county population, which has the 3rd highest percentage of veterans in Tennessee, behind Montgomery and Stewart Counties.
Several features include a grand marshal, several veterans service organizations, community organizations, local high school bands, and a variety of military, emergency, and classicalvehicles. Funding for the parade is provided by private donations. We are grateful for generous donations from the Lake Tansi Exchange Club, which also sponsors the Field of Honor, and from Exchange members Brad and Bonnie Cramer. Logistical support is provided by the Crossville City Council, Crossville Police Department and Fire Department, Martin Elementary School, Cumberland County High School, the Crossville Department of Public Works, and Flynn Sign Company.
Entry forms for participation in the parade are due no later than Friday, October 25. Parade applications can be submitted online or by mail and are available at Parade4Veterans.org, and at the Cumberland County Veterans Service Office, temporarily located at 2 S. Main Street, Suite 105, Crossville, TN 38555. The parade is organized by the veterans’ parade committee, consisting of a coalition of community volunteers and military veterans. The committee meets once a month at American Legion Post 163, 1446 S. Main Street, Crossville. The next meeting will be Wednesday, October 9 at 6:30 p.m.
