Crossville Veterans Parade Rules & Guidelines

In order to provide you and the community with a safe event, the following Rules and Guidelines have been instituted for participating in this year’s parade. Additional parade information will follow approval of Parade Entry Form.

Parade Rules & Guidelines

1. The official contact for each organization/individual will be responsible for providing these rules and guidelines to its members prior to the parade. 

2. Strict adherence to these Parade Rules and Guidelines is mandatory.  

3. The Parade Committee reserves the right to deny participation in the parade to entrants not in compliance with these Parade Rules, and Guidelines.  

4. Deadline for Parade Entry Forms is October 26, or when the 75th entry is received.

5. All entries are expected to adhere to the theme: “Honoring our U.S. Military Veterans”..

6. No Political units shall be allowed. Flags permitted are the United States flag, Branch of Service flags, and US Veteran Service flags (e.g, American Legion, DAV, MOAA, VFW, Vietnam Veterans of America). 

7. Parade will take place rain or shine. There is no make-up date.

8. The lead vehicle in each unit must display a sign on both sides that can be seen from 30 feet with the organization’s name and city if not Crossville.

9. The Crossville City Ordinance prohibits throwing candy or other items from floats or vehicles due to a safety hazard.  Representatives from your group may walk along beside your entry and hand out these items.

10. Floats are to be no higher than 13ft or wider than 8ft.

11. Those riding on floats shall not move around the float while it is moving. Children shall be seated on and accompanied by an adult on the float.

12. No one may exit a float until it is completely stopped at the designated ending point of the parade.

13. Line up and parade staging area will be at Cumberland County High School, 660 Stanley Street and Martin Elementary School, 1362 Miller Avenue.  

14. No parade participants may consume alcohol prior to or during the parade. 

15. There will be no smoking during the parade. 

16. All motorized vehicles in the parade must operate under their own power. No towing.

17. All float or vehicle decorations should display a theme that honors military veterans of the United States Armed Forces, including active duty, and members of the national guard and reserve.

18. Music played must be military or patriotic and not conflict with other groups or band music.

19. Entries with animals will be responsible for cleaning up after themselves.  

20. Participants shall follow the group ahead of them in a prompt manner.

21. All participants and groups must stay in the positions they were assigned.

22. NO PYROTECHNICS OF ANY KIND ARE ALLOWED. 

23. NO FIRING OF FIREARMS IS ALLOWED.

24. ALL UNITS MUST GIVE WAY TO EMERGENCY VEHICLES.

25. ALL FIRE TRUCKS OR EMERGENCY VEHICLES shall continue along the parade route down Main Street and NOT disperse until they reach Crossville Church of Christ except in the case of an emergency.

26. Parents are to pick-up children at Crossville’s Church of Christ Please make sure all parents with your group are aware of the pick-up locations.
